Fashion fam – guess what? I have a new series!!!! I know I’ve been gone from blogging for a bit, but baby I am here and back with a vengeance ok! But in all seriousness, I’ve always wanted to start “Fashion Feature Friday”. As apart of the “connector” brand, I want to give light to fashion creatives in our industry, especially those who are Black, women, LGBTQIA+, or a combination! I think it’s important to shed light and give flowers to us in under-represented groups and to show that there are so many dope people in our industry!

Today’s Fashion Feature Friday highlights Bre’anda Massy, of Masse Designs! Bre’anda is a freelance fashion designer and brand developer based in LA, originally from St.Louis, MO. She is passionate about helping people follow their fashion dreams by using her tools and resources developed after working 7 years in the corporate fashion industry, as a technical fashion designer. She prides herself on sharing knowledge and saving her clients time and money when creating their fashion line.

Why did you decide to get into the fashion industry?

I got into the fashion industry because I always loved art as a child and fashion was my medium. I grew up with my great-grandmother designing her own clothes and loved how stylish and unique her wardrobe was. Having pieces in my wardrobe that nobody has access to, is so cool to me.

What are some things you have planned for your business?

For my business, I am planning to grow my client base by providing the best resources for them to take their ideas from idea to final production. Whether it’s fashion drawings, tech packs, sample making, brand consulting, or providing production resources. I want everyone to know how to properly develop a fashion brand while saving time and money.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone looking to enter this industry?

One piece of advice for someone hoping to work in fashion is to not give up. Also taking small jobs to build your resume is a good move. Your first job may not be your dream job, but it will pave the road for you to get there.
