The Best Style Subscription Boxes for the Ultimate Plus-Size Fashionista!

Don’t know if y’all realized, but we’re still in the height of quarantine – and online shopping is at an all-time high. Something that has been really intriguing to me (because of my job) is what are the best style subscription boxes for plus-size women?! Many factors go into this – from cost, to accessibility to a variety of brands, and the option to either build your own closet or work with an actual digital stylist (like us).

Well, we researched all of those factors and more to give you the top 10 services that have been recommended by the experts, including Glamour & Huffpost, and even gave our own ratings too!

Members will receive 5 items for $20 a month and a customized style profile, going a step above in creating a personalized styling interaction.

Brands

  • Girlfriend Collective
  • Downing Studio
  • Cameo & more

Sizing

  • 0X-5X

Pros

  • A stylist is curating your box for you.
  • The style quiz is specifically geared towards the plus-sized figure, asking questions many of the other services forget to because they cater to a more generalized clientele.
  • The style quiz generates a style profile for you, giving you an idea of what your style is, vs. with other services, they make you guess what your style identity is, and for alot of people – that’s hard to do (hints why they’re looking for this type of service in the first place).
  • You can choose between a normal style box, or an active style box.
  • Only $20 for a style box and 5 items per box (comes out to $4 per item), and it doesn’t matter the frequency – the fee goes towards the products you keep.
  • Referral program: Give $25, get $25 (get your $25 off here).
  • Get 25% off of your purchase when you keep all 5 items in your box.
  • Cancel/pause anytime.

Cons

  • Only have 5 days to try on in home.

  • Return what you don’t want, and keep what you want at 50% off retail price.
  • Referral program: Give a free box, earn a $25 credit (get your free box here).
  • Cancel/pause anytime.

Cons

  • More on the pricier side (3 items for $55 a month comes out to $18.33 per piece)
  • Optional insurance for an additional $5 per box (which I get, but with other services like Nordstrom, they trust the customer and will refund anything vs. making them take out additional insurance).
  • Style profile is not nearly as in depth as any of the other services, doesn’t really seem personal.

Cons

  • You can’t use your referral code until you’ve paid for your first month (which I haven’t yet to experience on any other service).
  • Not necessarily a con, but this service is not specifically towards plus size as it caters to all sizes (that might be a negative for some).

6. Stylogic β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

via Stylogic

Members will receive 5 items for $20 a month.

  • A stylist is curating your box for you.
  • Styling fee goes towards your purchase.
  • Products lower than $50, so great for a wide range of budgets.
  • In depth style quiz.
  • Referral program: $10 off when your friend’s order ships (get your first box here).
  • Get 20% off of your purchase when you keep all 5 items in your box.

Cons

  • Based on what I’ve researched, there’s no information on if Stylogic has their own branded clothes, or if the clothes are from other brands and retailers.

7. Wantable β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†

8. Nadine West β˜…β˜†β˜†β˜†β˜†

Sizing

  • S-3X Tops

Pros

  • Referral program: Give $10, get $10 (get yours here)

Cons

  • They are not a subscription service (they say it in their FAQs), so you have to be very careful on how you wear the items because it anything looks out of place they will charge you. They’re banking on you buying the pieces.
  • Can only get a box every 2 weeks or every month, whereas other services have more options of frequency.
  • Their set up is complicated. What I mean by that is they have their website operated like a sales funnel situation, so all the things that should be included in the initial fee or in the up front sales page (like half off your first box, or shipping insurance) comes up as a pop up after you subcribe.
  • They have a automatic discount so you don’t know what the actual subscription costs – so if you’re someone who forgets those free subscriptions like I do, then you’re going to see a charge and be confused as hell next month. After researching the website and doing a few Google searches – I still don’t know how much the actual box cost each month.
  • They don’t have a list of the brands they carry. On their site it specifically says “We carry a large variety of brands. Some you know. Others you won’t.”
  • Shipping is technically not free. You will be charge $9.98 which will go towards anything you keep.
  • Seems as if they don’t care bottoms from their FAQs.
  • They’re style quiz is all off. For example, when asked about your bottom size, I could only select “14-20” – that’s 3 different sizes right there.

9. Stitch Fix β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜†

  • Kate Spade

Pros

  • 5 items for $20 a month (comes out to $4 per item).
  • Free shipping, returns, & exchanges.
  • No subscription required.
  • A stylist is curating your box for you.
  • Styling fee goes towards your purchase.
  • Over 1000 brands.

  • Get 25% off of your purchase when you keep all the items in your box.

Cons

  • Based on the outfit boards they use to determine what you like and don’t like, nothing looks too fashion-forward, so for people like me – this may not be it.
  • The shortest try on period of the bunch – 3 days.

10. TrunkClub β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†

Perfect for Nordstrom regulars who want a style experience outside of the store. Members will receive 10 items for $25 a month, or free if you’re a Nordstrom cardholder.

  • Open Edit
  • Vince Camuto
  • Good American and more

Sizing

  • 0-16
  • 00P-12P
  • 14W-24W
  • 1X-3X
  • XS-XXL

Pros

  • Only a $25 styling fee – one of the lowest costs in comparison to the item quantity (only $2.5 per item).
  • Products as low as $50, so great for a wide range of budgets.
  • A stylist is curating your Trunk for you.
  • No commitment (you technically don’t need a subscription to get a Trunk, you can order one anytime you want!).
  • Can choose different themed boxes.
  • Free returns – so you don’t have to pay to send back what you don’t want.
  • If you’re a Nordstrom card member, your styling fee is waived!
  • You technically have 5 days to try on – but you can simply request more time in your profile hassle free.
  • Referral program: Give $50, earn $50.

Cons

  • From a Nordstrom stylist – I can say that the inventory gets slimmer as you go up in size. Around the 3/4x area it’s slim pickings, and it’s a bit disheartening – especially as a plus-sized woman myself. There are so many options available on Nordstrom.com that aren’t made available on Trunkclub, but we are continuously working to update inventory levels for all sizing! I still think it’s a service worth trying out! You can get $50 off your first trunk here!

My verdict? – Dia & Co takes the cake hands down, with Eloquii, nuuly, Wantable, & TrunkClub coming behind!

I encourage you to review for yourself and see how these services measure up. I plan to do a more in-depth review on my Youtube with some try-on hauls – so make sure to stay tuned for that!
